He began his academic tenure in 1991 as a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Basrah, where he taught structural analysis, concrete design, strength of materials, and numerical methods at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He served as the Head of the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Basrah from 1998 to 2002 and later as the Director of the Engineering Consulting Bureau from 1999 to 2003. From 2004 to 2007, he was a professor at the College of Engineering, University of Sharjah, UAE. Since 2012, he has been leading the Architectural Engineering Department at Cihan University-Erbil while also managing his engineering consultancy firm, Adviser Engineering Consulting Bureau, in Ajman, UAE.
